Hendu W.I.N.
So far, we've raised over $80,000 in five years at the ALS Shootout!
Help us raise even more this year.
Kirk and Mike were both actively involved in the community, dedicating most of their adults lives to coaching youth sports. Both were afflicted with Lou Gehrig's Disease, also known as ALS, and taken by the disease much too early in life. ALS is a fatal disease, more common in middle-aged men than any other group. The life expectancy of a person with ALS is typically 2-5 years from diagnosis.
There is no cure or effective treatment for ALS, which makes fundraising for research a vitally important cause. All proceeds from the ALS Shootout golf tournament will be donated to The ALS Association, a non-profit leading the way in global research, care services for people with ALS, public education, and public policy.
We walk for our hero, my husband Kirk. Together we see future for those who are afflicted. Research dollars have made such strides during the past year. Yes, my heart aches that we did not have more opportunity. Kirk was diagnosed in September 2014 and passed seventeen months later. But that will not dampen our spirit to continue to fight for those who have been stricken by this disease and for the memory of all those that we have lost. It is the right thing to do, it is our responsibility , it is our hope. Please join us as we walk with love, compassion and commitment. Help us to honor every individual touched in some way by this disease. The Hendrickson Family
Thank you for helping us reach our fund raising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
