This year we are so happy to be gathering on June 4th at the Moda Center / Rose Quarter for the 2023 Walk to Defeat ALS. It promises to be a fun day with bands, food carts, and entertainment. We are coming together as a community to raise awareness and much needed funds for the ALS Associatoin's efforts in offering support services for nearly 600 people impacted by ALS in our region as well as to fund research to bring an end to this disease. 

Team Papa Chuck's Portland Crew is once again fundraising to help those who live with this disease.  We walk in memory of our beloved Papa Chuck, Valerie's father.  Chuck battled ALS for more than a decade, and always enjoyed watching us walk in his name from his home in Boston.  Thank you to our dear friends The Harts for always showing up to support our little team!  We are committed to raising money to defeat this disease. Why We Need Your Help

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
