Mitch's Majec Miles

First of all, thank you for visiting our page, and secondly, no, I did not misspell "Majec". Mitch always loved acronyms, so when we were tasked with naming our new kitten many years ago, Mitch came up with "Majec".

Mitch's ALS journey started with his diagnosis on May 3, 2021 at 9:04 am. This year our family is walking in honor of Mitch, who finished his ALS journey on January 13, 2024.

After his diagnosis, an ALS Northwest social worker (Hi, Susan) came to visit us, and the association was a constant source of help and support through it all. They offer Grants to help offset out of pocket expenses, they loan at no charge durable medical from their ALS Closet, they have support groups, and were a source of comfort.

Please consider joining our team in the Walk ALS or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

That’s why we’re participating in the Walk ALS. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help uncover the mystery of ALS and find treatments and cures to end ALS. Will you join us?

ABOUT ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
